Benjamin Coyte is a performer and interpreter of contemporary music interested in the broad diversity of the modern sound arts and the multitude of expression available on (and off) the cello. As an interdisciplinary artist, he experiments with performances that involve free improvisation, light, video, electronics, staging and acting. On various stages he has sung, eaten spaghetti, yelled, held a cello funeral, moshed, imitated frogs, dropped books, played a puppeteer, taped the ground, and performed viola da gamba.

Commissions and collaborations are a major part of crafting works of sound art. His most recent solo project Reflection features ten new compositions for solo cello with a stage design from Miriam Götz. As a performer in latenz ensemble (Switzerland) and Ensemble Semblance (France), he has premiered over 40 new works since graduating in 2021 from the Hochschule für Musik in Basel.
